Grosso saves Lyon

Fabio Grosso rescued a point for Ligue 1 leaders Lyon on his comeback from injury against Lille.

The Italy full-back, who was making his first appearance after six weeks on the sidelines with broken ribs, levelled with 15 minutes remaining to prevent a second consecutive defeat for the champions.

The visitors had established a 2-1 lead with goals from Adil Rami and Michel Bastos sandwiched in between an Aurelien Chedjou own goal which had brought Lyon level.

After a heavy 3-0 defeat to Rennes in their last league outing prior to the international break, Claude Puel's men showed the resolve to come from behind and gain a point from a tough encounter.

Lyon, though, appeared to be still suffering from the demoralising defeat in the early stages, with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris forced into a stunning early save by Lille's Franck Beria.

Then, after 14 minutes, Lille took the lead when Rami met Bastos' cross leaving Lloris stranded.

The hosts were back in the game after 22 minutes with Chedjou unintentionally lobbing over his own keeper from Juninho's free kick.

But Lille's confidence was high thanks to a three-game winning streak and they reclaimed the lead after 61 minutes.

Bastos hit a free-kick from 33 yards which bounced awkwardly in front of Lloris before nestling in the back of the net.

Lyon rallied though and forced an equaliser.

Juninho's expertise from set pieces was again to the fore as he picked out the unmarked Grosso at the far post and the Italian headed home.

Both sides had chances to win the game late on with Gregory Malicki punching Karim Benzema's shot wide and Lloris denying Mathieu Debuchy from close range.
