Lyon time it right to end Steaua hopes

Olympique Lyonnais followed up their rousing UEFA Champions League victory at FC Steaua Bucureşti a fortnight ago with a less flamboyant but equally important success on home soil thanks to Juninho Pernambucano's superb free-kick and a late strike from Anthony Réveillère.

Late clincher
Steaua arrived in France with a new coach after Dorinel Munteanu replaced Marius Lăcătuş following Lyon's 5-3 success in Bucharest and gave a good account of themselves, denying the French champions space and restricting them to speculative shots for much of the first period. However, once again Juninho broke the deadlock with a free-kick just before half-time and Réveillère's last-minute strike means Steaua can now only reach the UEFA Cup, while Lyon know a draw at ACF Fiorentina 25 November would take them through from Group F.
